All About Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is a component of our skin that plays an important part in helping the skin to remain youthful-looking and healthy. Although we all have hyaluronic acid in our bodies naturally, it starts to go away eventually.

Sometimes this is as early as the late teens. This explains why the skin’s youthful radiance and plumpness begin to subside with age — and that’s why hyaluronic acid dermal fillers such as Belotero are so effective. When injected, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers have the ability to replace the body’s decreased hyaluronic acid. The result is skin that is plumper, more vibrant, and more refreshed.

What Should You Expect with Belotero?

Belotero Balance is administered using injections. Before these injections, we will cleanse, prep, and numb your skin (if needed). The injections are given using a small, fine needle. Treatment time is 15-30 minutes.

Although Belotero is a no-downtime treatment, you may have some mild irritation, redness, bruising, tenderness, swelling, or itching at the injection sites that may last up to one week. In rare cases, some patients have also seen skin discoloration and an indentation in the skin. These side effects are also temporary. For the next 24 hours after treatment, we recommend avoiding strenuous activities, sun and heat exposure, drinking alcohol, and NSAIDs. It typically takes 2-3 weeks for results to become apparent.
